The Dr. Baird Method

Developing the Dr. Baird Method

After decades of treating patients, Dr. Baird observed that most foot and ankle problems fall into three categories:

  • Biomechanical stress

  • Bone or structural issues

  • Connective tissue irritation or injury

While many treatments address only one aspect of a condition, Dr. Baird developed an approach that evaluates all contributing factors together.

This philosophy became known as The Dr. Baird Method, a system designed to identify the source of a problem, educate patients about why it developed, and guide them through steps that restore function and prevent recurrence.

Learning From Patients and Their Activities

One unique aspect of Dr. Baird’s approach is his willingness to participate in many of the activities his patients enjoy.

Over the years he has explored a wide range of physical pursuits in order to better understand the stresses they place on the body. These have included:

  • Marathon training, including completing a barefoot marathon

  • CrossFit training

  • Pilates and yoga

  • Pickleball

  • Orangetheory fitness

By experiencing these activities firsthand, Dr. Baird gains insight into the demands placed on the foot and ankle during exercise and sport.

Commitment to Practical Solutions

Dr. Baird also closely studies footwear design and construction, frequently visiting shoe stores to evaluate current styles so he can provide informed recommendations to patients.

He continually evaluates emerging medical therapies that may help stimulate healing and improve recovery time. These include advanced technologies such as Class IV laser therapy, shockwave treatment, and regenerative medicine options when appropriate.

Helping Patients Stay Active

At the center of Dr. Baird’s philosophy is a simple belief:

Activity plays a powerful role in long-term health and quality of life.

When foot and ankle pain prevents people from moving, their overall health often suffers as well.

By helping patients understand the source of their pain and strengthening the structures that support movement, Dr. Baird’s goal is to help people remain active for decades to come.

Continuing the Mission

Today Dr. Baird continues to expand his work through education, patient resources, and the development of tools designed to help people maintain healthy feet and ankles both inside and outside the clinic.

His mission remains the same:
To help patients move better, recover faster, and continue enjoying the activities that make life meaningful.
